About the Diablo Respite Center The Diablo Respite Center is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting those dealing with the potentially devastating effects of Alzheimer's Disease and related disorder.  The Diablo Respite Center offers the most unique programs available to those in the early stages of memory loss. The Diablo Respite Center is the home of two programs: The DRC Club for women and The Company for men, presently combined into one group. The goal of these programs is to promote each member's maximum level of independence.  Opportunities are provided to challenge the member's existing potential, experience a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie, and build self esteem through social activities, interesting trips and friendships. Program Specifics Each group consists of a 10-week session, meeting once a week on Thursday from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm.  Activities include discussions of relevant issues, organized outings, tours and field trips; shared accomplishments and reminiscing. Staff and Steering Committee The DRC employs professional, caring staff who truly enjoy what they do. This shows in the quality of the programs as well as the interaction between staff and participants. Current staff are: Bob Stark: Director of The Company, Retired U.S. Army Marsha Stark:  Business Manager, Credentialed Adult Education Teacher. Amy Price, R.N.: Assistant Director of the DRC Club. The DRC has a group of dedicated volunteers who serve on the Steering Committee, they give their time and talents to help the DRC to suceed. They are: June Allen: Retired Librarian Saint Mary's College. Rev. Diana Barkley: Liaison Grace Presbyterian Church. Marty Landon: Liaison Grace Presbyterian Church. Joan M. Larsen: Past Director of DRC, Credentialed Adult Education Teacher. John W. Larsen: Retired financial advisor and Webmaster. Vi Lorenzen: Founding member Steering Committee and past chairman. Rev.
